"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants"

Robotics season is starting up now! The FIRST Lego League competition rules were released today (September 3, 2011), and FTC will be released September 10, 2011. I'm SO EXCITED!!! We took our FTC field to the FLL Kick-Off and demonstrated our World Champion robot to the elementary school children in order to raise awareness about robotics and FTC. We are even planning to host a homeschooled FLL team in our shop!

FLL KICK-OFF 2012
From 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, I volunteered at the 2012 FIRST Lego League Kick-Off with my robotics team and the Lathrop Robotics Club.

We demonstrated our robot, Sphere, and told stories about the World Championship Competition to enthusiastic elementary roboticists.

Our transportable FTC field is used often for community outreach activities such as this one.
There were many kids who are going to be doing FIRST for the first time this year, and we were trying to help out parents who were intimidated by the time and money dedicated in order to coach a team.

We offered our shop out to FLL and FTC teams from around Fairbanks, and we will even go out and help the new adult coaches set up their team and give them tips.

This years FLL competition looks very exciting and I am very excited to see the many designs in December!

I plan to judge these competition robots like I have done for the past two years.
