"If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants"
                         - Isaac Newton
I have lived in Alaska my entire life. It does get down to 40 below in the winter, but the summers make up for it and its a beautiful place. All of these pictures were taken by my family on trips or just sitting at home. We continue to take pictures of Alaska's beauty every day. Here are some of the amazing moments I have experienced in "my backyard".

Sidewalks in Alaska

While I was in Valdez for a ski race, we took this picture to show how high the snow banks really were. (This is not an uncommon sight).

Pipeline

The pipeline is about a ten minute drive from our house. We took my friend, Stephan, from the German Exchange Partnership Program (GAPP) over to see it.

Moose

Every now and then a moose will wander into our backyard. I once saw eleven moose within three days!!!

Another Moose

Here is another case when a moose has followed the food to our yard.

Gold Bar

One of my Dad's coworkers mines gold.

Driving in Alaska

The closest populated city to Fairbanks is a seven hour drive.

Grazing Caribou

Caribou herds and the pipeline can be spotted miles away from the highway.

Bald Eagle

America's national bird flourishes in Cordova where my mom grew up commercial fishing.

Bald Eagles

These bald eagles were spotted on our way to Child's Glacier near Cordova.

Child's Glacier

When I think of a glacier, I think of the ice falling into the river like it does at Child's Glacier.

Majestic Glacier

Here is a beautiful picture of a glacier off in the distance.

Blocking the Road

Caribou are less common than moose in Fairbanks. We often spot them on road trips.

More Moose

Have you seen enough Moose? If goose then geese. If moose then meese?

Even More Moose

I am thinking of something big and brown. How did you know!?
